Sophie’s first race for the Kutztown Area High School Varsity Cross Country Team. Seriously, look at those gunboats! Girl is ripped and she can run, even in excruciating heat!
First ever 8K, 37 minutes flat, 7.25 minute miles. “It’s a good foundation”, said the Hampshire coach. Way to go Sam!
Our boy is off, he’s flown the nest and is settling into a new one. So proud and happy!
She just arrived, then she grew up so quickly. We were talking this morning and then “Bye Mom, I don’t want to be late for High School Orientation.” A little crack appears in my heart, but my heart is also full to bursting.

I really don’t like it when people do it to me, and I try not to do it with the families I work with. People have asked me if I am sad to see Sam off to college, as if that’s the way it should feel. I’m not sad, I’m really happy. In fact my … More People might think that if you are a child and family counselor that you tell other people what to do with their children for a living. I hope I don’t do that!
The best teachers, boats, place and people to learn with and from. But mostly the best family, my amazing family! Here’s to an outstanding summer.
